The main hardware change for AFS is the installation of the AFS injector in the combustion system transition piece. Interconnection piping and fuel valves are also added through the combustion casing access manway.
The AFS upgrade also requires modifications to the Mark*VIe controls system software.

The AFS upgrade can be installed during an extended combustion inspection, an extended hot gas path inspection or a major inspection.
