THERE ARE SEVERAL TELLTALE SIGNS THAT A GENERATOR ROTOR MAY HAVE ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSEDThese are all issues that can be determined while the rotor is running. More obvious issues are a grounded field or other condition that would trip the unit off-line. Monitoring the condition of the rotor through products like GE’s Generator Health Monitoring system will allow tracking and trending of issues.

vibration issues
excitation current increases to maintain output
inability to maintain output due to excitation limitations
