At a recent outage in Latin America, GE Vernova’s lead field engineer was performing regular EHS and technical inspections when they noticed customer personnel repairing the filter house by grinding out damaged paint .
The GE Vernova field engineer recognized that the nearby evaporator cooler was made of a flammable material and presented a serious source of fuel should ignition occur from the sparks produced by grinding the paint.
The work was immediately stopped, the cooler media protected, and only then the work safely resumed.
